<title>Chicago 8/24 - 8/30/2007</title>
<description>Imagine the sun shining on your face and a&amp;nbsp;slight breeze at your heels- lifting you and your soul a little higher off the warming cement. Skipping around the psuedoworld of bustling touristy downtown Chicago and&amp;nbsp;allowing&amp;nbsp;whatever fancy or whim to take over your&amp;nbsp;haphazard agenda.
And so you&amp;#39;d&amp;nbsp;understand how my week was spent in Chicago.
&amp;nbsp;
I invited myself to visit a friend during his trip to Chicago for&amp;nbsp;the National&amp;nbsp;Reporters Convention. While he attended the convention during&amp;nbsp;the day, I&amp;nbsp;explored the city and together we enjoyed&amp;nbsp;Chicago&amp;#39;s nightlife. Here&amp;#39;s a list of attractions&amp;nbsp;I&amp;nbsp;visited while there.&amp;nbsp;Day 1- Navy Pier and the Stained Glass Museum, Magnificent Mile for shopping, Second City Comedy&amp;nbsp;Club and Lion&amp;#39;s Head Pub for dancing. Day 2 - Hancock Observatory, Contemporary Art Museum, 101 Bistro for lunch, Addler Planetarium,&amp;nbsp;Grant Park, Vivere fine italian restaurant, Rumba Room for salsa dancing, Day 3 - Chicago style pizza, Grant park for ice cream, water taxi to Navy Pier,&amp;nbsp;friend&amp;#39;s condo in North Beach suburb, Wicked the&amp;nbsp;broadway play, Day 4- Chicago Art Museum, Bergoff downtown for German&amp;nbsp;cuisine, Day 5 - Chicago style hot dogs, airport to say goodbye to friend, Green Mill Jazz&amp;nbsp;club (famous for great&amp;nbsp;jazz and Al Capone&amp;#39;s hang out spot.
&amp;nbsp;
Check out the pictures in the photo album for more info. Hope you enjoy.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;</description>

<title>Sea Kayaking in Prince William Sound 6/25 - 7/2</title>
<description>Check out the map of Alaska for reference. Mary Beth and I drove from her house in Fairbanks to Anchorage ( about 370 miles). From Anchorage, James and I hitch-hiked to Palmer and then Valdez, which is about 300 miles. &quot;Who is James&quot;, you ask? I&amp;#39;ll tell you about that later.If you look at the map you can see that there is only one road to many of the coastal towns. That means that if you don&amp;#39;t own/rent a car or want to pay for the flight, hitch-hiking is the only way to get there.&amp;nbsp;Just to note, our ride hosts for both our journey to and from Valdez were Alaskans. Alaskans definetly tend to give a helping hand more often than not. I think it is becuase they live according to Karma. No one wants bad Karma when they encounter car problems on the side of a remote highway in the middle of the winter. Its like passing the favor on. A&amp;nbsp;good lesson for all of us.&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
More details about the 7 day sea kayaking trip are in the photo album. Make sure you click on each picture until you see the narrative.

&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Here is a map of the route we took. We started in Valdez. First night we stayed along the sound, second night we were in shoop glacier, third night we were in Shoop, fourth night we went to Sawmill bay, fifth and sixth nights we were in Columbia Bay. It is about 35 nautical miles to Columbia, I expect we paddled about 40 miles to Columbia Bay with our side trips.

<title>Trip to Anchorage -6/23/06</title>
<description>Mary Beth, Blu Regard, and I set out to Anchorage for the weekend. Our departure from Fairbanks got later and later because our lazy, procrastinating selves couldn&amp;#39;t clean her house or get organized until 9pm. We arrived in Anchorage at 3am and realized that we were in the big city.Fairbanks has a population of about 40, 000 and Anchorage has a population of about 270,000. Yup. After about 45 minutes of driving endlessly around trying to find a specific road, we asked several people directions. Apparently people in Anchorage aren&amp;#39;t very aware of their surroundings and we had to buy a map. Mary Beth was the navigator and as she found our route to the hotel, Blu Regard decided to help. As Blu Regard jumped into her lap, MaryBeth politely moved the map out of his way. The map was quickly wisked away by the draft of the open window and lost to the dark city streets. hehehe Oh well. More adventure for us.
